Default 2008 CLK350 Pre Wired for Phone?

I am new here and here goes my first question. Is my 2008 CLK prewired for a phone? Everything I read says it should be but I find no evidence in the console that it is. It has the NAV, CD Changer, and ipod kit. More questions to come. Thanks!

Which country are you in?

In US, some cars have some wiring installed
In the rest of the world, there is nothing installed unless you had option 386 specified (UHI phone system)

Retrofit kits are available.

If the datacard has 354, 388, 386 then its likely to just need an armrest plate.

otherwise .... the whole kit.

If you car has Teleaid then you already have a phone kit.

The upgrade you will require is USA car specific and usually cheaper than the same upgrade in Australia. Most likely the wiring leads up to the armrest.

The datacard is the list of all factory options. We can look that up with the chassis number.

I have the data card now and the car has 359 Teleaid (the dealer recoded for mBrace and it is active) and 387 Mobile Pre Installation. I also have Comand DVD APS USA with Nav and 819 CD Changer and the iPod adapter.

No 354, 386 or 386.

I am taking the car to Motorwerks here in Houston on Friday and having them look at it.

Thanks for the quick responses!

387 is good.

Look in your centre armrest, there is probably a curved cover about 2" x 2" (but not square) over the MHI connector plate in the armrest.

You can spend a lot of money at MB dealer on a Bluetooth module, or you can buy this..

Comand Online Ltd :: Mercedes Phone/Bluetooth :: ViseeO MB-2 (formerly MBU2000) UHI Bluetooth for Mercedes Benz

(no sales tax once you register as out of Europe)

Richard,

Nothing like that in the console.

If I had the connector, I would be ordering what you suggested. Thanks for trying.

FYI - Looks like there is a punch out on the back wall of the console. Front of the console has a drink holder and the side has the mBrace (i) and (wrench).

The prewire means that the armrest insert is missing but that the wiring is hidden underneath.

So what would be the next steps and parts to make the bluetooth work best with what I have? Do I just need to find the wiring and plug a mercedes adapter plus the ViseeO that Richard proposed or are there other parts necessary plus some programming?

Again, thanks for the help.
