Default SL55 losses sound

From time to time, while listening to radio, CD, the sound stop. If I power off the COMAND system and back on, the sound return. This happens when driving on the freeway, going fast or slow or on city street. It can happen within minutes of starting or half an hour into the drive.

Return the car to dealer and they replace Voice control module and did not fix the problem. Please let me know what can cause this outage.

thanks

What model year is the car ?

Does it have BOSE (or Harmon Kardon)

Basically, there is a fibre optic loop through all the audio components, and any one failing causes everything to break - especially if you have BOSE/HK as the amplifier is on the fibre optic loop

It is 03 with Bose.. is the amp head of the loop? Is this a common issue? The dealer been trying to figure this out for the past two months and was told that they are unable to see any error code.

thanks

Its a complete loop, the head unit (the COMAND) is the master.

If you look at www.mercupgrades.com it tells you about COMAND diagnostic mode. Please read the document, go in to diagnostic mode, delete the errors, wait for the error to re-occur and post all the error log info here (all of it)

Cheers

Richard

thanks... I will take a look and see what it say now.

The car was return to the dealer a few days ago and now they replaced the PSE module and claims that is not under extended warranty and charged me.

Will see what error this may bring...

Drove the car about 6 times before the no sound return. Went into the diagnosis screen and the SAE code shows N1111.

Please let me know what you think the problem is.

thanks...
