Default Fitting new Audio20 into W245

    Hi,

I am in the middle of swapping my old style Audio20 in my B class for a new one with bluetooth. My car is in pieces, and mostly works except:

    1. I cannot tune the radio - no FM or MW. I think the problem requires me to connect a wire across a couple of terminals, but not sure which.

    2. Not quite sure where or how I'm meant to run the microphone cable. I presume this is meant to run behind the dash, but would like advice on:
    a) where the best place of it is
    b) how to get it there!

    3. While everything is in pieces, I want to connect up an Aux input - does anyone know the correct pinout?

    Many thanks

    Richard.

I think it would be best to pull over and ask for instructions.

    - radio amplifier power pin modification
    - Radio signal splitter
    - AUX input modification
    - phone microphone connections

All of these details are explained in Richards retrofit guide.

I think I've managed to answer most of my questions:
    Poor aerial reception:
I need to cut the cable going into pin 13, and connect the wire into pin 7 of the mike terminal to give power to the aerial booster. For this, I need another MQS contact, which I think I can find from Tyco Electronics (they send free product samples which is just as well as I don't want to buy 10,000 for just this!).

    Mike fitting:
To fit the microphone, I need to remove the glovebox (as per Richard's guides), remove half the door seal. I can then slide the pillar housing upwards, and detach. The mike wire can then be fed all the way to the mirror.

The Aux input terminal (1394048-1 for the centre bit, not sure the number for the outer clip) I need to wire as follows:
    Left - 4
    Right - 10
    Ground - 9

You dont have to remove the glovebox to route the mic.

Simply feed the cable into the trim using a plastic wedge. the only parts to remove to do this are the underneath of the dash board above the drivers knees (2 screws) the dash board end cover (just pulls off) and part of the rubber door seal.
