Default Linguatronic wiring [W211 E class]

Hi guys,

Am in the process of getting the parts together for the linguatronic system. Thanks to Alfie for a list of all the parts needed and have the part numbers from the local stealers, the only part im trying to find the number for is the copper wiring harness (if there is a part number) or some guidance on how to make it?

I have sourced all the other parts, and have got use of STAR for a few hours at my indies when i need it.

please help, this is the last piece to this puzzle for me...for now

its for a MY2005 w211 already with code 388 installed

thanks in advance

Hi

Use the W203 C class part harness. If you can't find the part number, add to this thread and i'll try and find it (I have one somewhere) - you can splice power/ground/wakeup onto the phone controller (next to where linguatronic goes).
Do you need the fibre optic harness parts also ?

You need a W203 MOST wiring harness and then cut and crimp. There is no such thing as a W211 harness in the EPC.

For this car it is a custom made cable.

Wiring harness part nr is A203 440 12 05

If you have not bought the UK linguatronic module and the wiring harness, Comand Online has a spare of both so please contact them - better price than dealers :-)

You also need a single MOST fibre if you are lucky, or a pair and a joiner so you can insert the linguatronic controller before the phone system in the fibre optic loop.

You should put the controller next to the phone controller in the compartment under the boot floor, and run the microphone connector from the linguatronic unit to the interconnect point behind rear left seat squab and replug the microphone loom coming from the roof into the linguatronic instead of the phone system.

Take power and wakeup by splicing onto the phone controller, and run the ground lead to the ground point by the rear fusebox.

You will need to do 'initialisation coding' on the phone system after doing this or it can get very confused (and behave very strangely with some head unit functions not working because the phone system is stealing the messages as it thinks different things should be happening)

ok Making progress slowly on this, last weekend i installed the VC lever, that was pretty straight forward, no problems there.

started on the wiring today in the freezing cold (need to buy a garage heater!)
- connected power and ground
- connected the mic array to the VCS
- connected wake up to another blue\black wire in the left hand rear wiring conduit. (im a little dubious on this one)

connected the most fibres as follows
-took the incoming from the phone unit and that is now the incoming for the VCS
- outbound for the VCS is now inbound for the phone unit

basically put the VCS in front of the MOST chain.

now when i went on start to check actual most config, it shows all apart from the AGW as "vacant", so i took the VCS out the loop again and all was well.

questions are
- does the VSC go before the phone unit in the MOST chain ?
- where is the best place to take the wake up signal from (in case this is the issue)

almost there

thanks

Hi

VCS should go before the phone controller. I dont think its an absolute requirement but since the voice data goes from VCS to phone controller that is the standard configuration.

The loop is clearly broken by the VCS and thus its optics have not powered up - this is either because you don't have power or don't have wakeup.
I'd take the wakeup from the phone controller's wakeup as its right next to it

On a W211 wakeup is pink. - and you will find the distributor in the front left (on RHD cars) wiring duct - lots of pink wires going into a connector. There may possibly be a picture on the W211 COMAND retrofit document on Mercedes Electronics upgrades, installation and retrofits - but a lot easier to connect to the phone controller.
