    Default NTG2.5 HU Parameter Update Failed in DAS

    Hi, on my NTG2.5 I am using DAS in developer mode to update it's settings. In the settings update within DAS I go to HU parameters and was able to change Rear Camera to Activated, Video Aux to Activated, and even the Compass to Activated. I deactivated Internal Navigation as well as the Navigation Database but I get a communications error everytime I tried to change External Navigation setting to Activated.

    I have seen some NTG2.5's set up for External Navigation where you can use the Video Aux pins to use an different Navigation system video in. I'm not sure how they set that because everytime I try the DAS gives me a communications error.

    Anyone know the best way to set this? Is there an easier way to set this by reading the HDD with some sort of a reader on my computer?

    Also, is the Video Aux specifically set to either PAL or NTSC? Is there a way to change this?

    Thanks.

    Try coding the NTG2.5 as if it was a different car (i.e tell Star it is a W211 E or an SL) and try coding in there. If that doesnt work, find another version of Star (older or newer one) as its just some missing config information.

    I have never looked at the HDD, but I doubt the config file is held in any format that makes any sense to a human.

    I have never seen any info about NTSC or PAL standard. I thus suspect it uses the country setting to determine the video standard.

    Thanks for your quick reply. Will try a different Start tomorrow.

    Also, I did the retrofit to NTG2.5 and it's working fine (except for being unable to activate External Navigation). But wanted to confirm, I installed the retrofit cables but wanted to confirm the colors from the old AGW. There is Yellow FAKRA and Black FAKRA. Yellow is the Telephone Antenna and Black is the Radio Antenna right? If so, the Black would connect to the 2 White FAKRA at back of Comand and the Yellow FAKRA would not be connected since I would connect a separate Bluetooth Antenna. Right?

    On the AGW the black and yellow are both radio. One is signal and the other is diversity.

    Okay tried with another Star but the same problem. All other parameters are fine, for example setting Navigation Database as Installed, I can set it to Uninstalled or Installed, back and forth. However, only when I try to set External Navigation to Activated, it gives me Communications error.

    The Star I tried today is a similar version to the one I tried yesterday, so I may need to look for another version. Also, tried W211, SL, SLK, even B... but all the same Communications error on setting this parameter...

    NTG2

    Blue = GPS
    Black = FM/AM
    Mustard (yellow) = FM/AM diverse antenna

    NTG2.5
    Blue = GPS
    White double = FM and AM antennas
    Mustard = Bluetooth antenna

    The NTG2 diverse antenna is not compatible with NTG2.5, so you need to add a splitter (FM/AM antenna splitter) which connects to the white double on NTG2.5 and the Black of the car.
    You should put a Bluetooth antenna on the Mustard (and not connect the car's existing mustard connection to it)
    The AUX wiring is also different between NTG2.5 and NTG2
    And the antenna's need to be powered up to work.

    It may just be that that setting is not 'settable' in engineering mode. I'd try and use a star diagnosis that completely up-to-date and/or a very old one (lets say march 08, when NTG2.5 first appeared)

    Figured out why it wasn't working. Apparently if Rear Camera is Activate the External Navigation setting cannot be activated. It must be because they both use the Green Fakra connector. It's actually a silly design to make you chose between the 2 options. I'm surprised they did not design the External Navigation on the middle Video Aux port and kept Rear Camera only on the Green Fakra...
