can I fit a 169 820 9989 into my 2006 clk instead of a 209 820 7289 because I've been told that it makes no difference,is this correct?

Its the wrong shape. Don't buy it. (the electronics are the same, the facias are different)

A169xxx units fit in A class, B class and facelifted (I think from 06 onward) Sprinter/Viano/Vito.

As your car is a facelifted CLK, it needs units starting with A209 ..

(facelifted (MY05 onward) CLK is a different shape to the facelift W203, so ignore anyone telling you W203 and W209 is same)
