Default Retrofitting UHI Bluetooth to MOST W220?

    Hi,

I'm trying to convert my s320 from the Nokia fixed cradle to the uhi system.

I have exchange the old nokia PSE (A2118702426) for UHI (A2118703226).

I have plugged in the UHI plate (A2208201511) and installed the sap v2 B67876128.

Using STAR I reset the optical ring and it now shows to be present.

When in the tel mode on the comand it says tel not available. Under service - bluetooth it searches for devices but finds none.

Also if push the button on the side of the SAP V2 it does not light.

I noticed that the uhi PSE has a Fakra connector should this be connected?

    Many thanks

    Adam

Firstly, you have to rewire the wiring between the PSE and the UHI contact plate connector - I can't recall the wiring changes because I get the circuit diagrams out each time (which are sometimes wrong also)

You also should re-wire the microphones to the UHI controller and remove/loop-out the microphone controller that is there (assuming you had 6310i system), or you could put in a linguatronic controller there instead..
It may possibly work without re-wiring but it is not a combination Mercedes would have ever fitted or tested.

The fakra on the phone controller is for a bluetooth antenna for the head unit to pair with a headset or upload contacts, which is long since discontinued.

When you get Star Diagnosis on the phone controller (which you need to do to set it up properly so it knows how many microphones your car has) tell it bluetooth is off and the menu you are using on COMAND will also disappear.

Thanks very much Richard. These conversions are never straight forward

What surprised me is the s-class on the STAR quick test has a VCS ecu
A2118206385 although the car has no linguatronic. I assumed it was to control the microphones in the mirror.

    Thanks

There are 6 wire changes in the MOST system from Nokia to UHI.

Then you must also resolve the microphone connections.

Thanks Miro.....I will study the circuit diagrams on the wis and see if I can get it working.

That is strange as thats the japanese VCS ecu, but yes it will be controlling the microphones. It should have a box that looks identical but has no VCS in it, part number A211 820 61 85 - which is no longer used when you have UHI.

If it is 63 85 then I'd leave it there and see if it works, otherwise you should re-wire the microphones and loop the fibre optics - but its easy enough to re-wire the microphones, the colours on the microphone wiring to that is the same as on the UHI so it is just a case of moving the 5/6 microphone wires ..

Thanks. I'm now trying to find the correct wiring diagram for my car with the nokia most pse. Looking on the wis all the circuit diagrams have diferent colour wires going to different pins

It seems at least the positive and negative connectors are correct for the UHI PSE.

I have moved the connectors to get the uhi plate (cradle plug). It seems all fine....the phone pairs and dials/receives calls but the microphones do not work.

I managed to get rid of the bluetooth in the uhi PSE but did not have a coding option for the number of microphones.

I haven't moved the microphone connectors over from the vcs yet as I really wanted to keep it in place as at some point I was going to retrofit linguatronic.

What I do not understand is how the VCS ecu links in in a factory uhi car with linguatronic. Do the microphones go to the the VCS ECU or UHI PSE?

Sorry for all the questions.......your help is greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

The microphone controller takes the microphone inputs, digitises it and puts it on the MOST bus for the older 6310i controller to pick up. [and so does the Linguatronic controller, but intercepts it when doing voice recognition]

I know UHI takes its audio from the MOST when there is Linguatronic, but I think you have just discovered it does not if no Linguatronic.

If you did not do the 'initialisation' coding in the UHI, try doing that first - it may be that process that looks for the VCS module and tells the UHI where to get microphone audio from ..

You've done the complicated bit (the wires for the UHI connector plate)

    Thanks again for the info.

I tried redoing the inital start up in star. It firsts asks about the bluetooth which has been disconnected then it prompts me to have a phone in the UHI adapter. I am using a bluetooth cradle will this be ok as when I click to proceed it goes back to the inital screen, i.e. do I need a standard uhi cradle and phone to do the initial coding?

    Cheers
