Question Problem with NTG 2.5 installation in a 2009 Sprinter

    Hello folks,

I'm trying to install an NTG 2.5 headunit but I ran into a few problems...

First I connected the Ubat + & - and took the Can bus signal from the srs
unit below the airco module. However i've been told you can get the signal
from somewhere else... the right location for this is unknown to me.

Result is that the unit powers up but the screen stays black, no mercedes logo nothing...
Inserting a dvd doesn't change anything and the backlight cfl stays on.
Unit is a BD811 with a optic fibre short cable and an aftermarket quadlock
    connector.

Any advice how to proceed ?

Canbus is meant to come from the canbus distributor which is behind drivers outside kick panel, you will find loads of pairs of identical wires going into it.

You really need this kit to make it all work properly (dont forget to look at the coupon code in the 'offers' forum here)

Comand Online Ltd :: COMAND Retrofit parts :: Current W169 A, W245 B, Sprinter, Vito, Viano :: A/B/C/CLC/VITO/VIANO Comand 2.0 to NTG2.5 wiring kit cars WITHOUT phone

    - it includes a properly wired converter to change the ISO wiring over to the quadlock wire properly for NTG2.5

However, NTG2.5 should just power up if power is in the correct place, even without the fibre loop in place, so either you have the power wiring wrong or there is an issue with your NTG2.5. Most of the NTG2.5 issues I have seen are CD issues, not seen a 'no display' issue yet though.

Thanks Richard for your answer, however I already have the adapter cable you're talking about. Only difference is that it doesn't come with a long Can cable. Someone told me you can buy an extension cable from mercedes, but I don't know the article number.

But at least I now know where the bus is located.

Thanks will try to connect the can bus to the kick out panel location and see
    what happens.
