    Default S Class Comand Problem

I have replaced the faulty Siemens head Comand unit part no ( 220 827 4142/80) on my September 04 S Class with exactly the same type of Siemens Comand unit from a same model S Class but with a different part no ( 220 870 3789 2GS000 ).
However, although the Radio & Sat Nav both work perfectly, I cannot get the CD or DVD or CD-MP3 to work on my vehicle, eventhough they worked previously.
Is there some type of synchronization required or do I just press the reset button ?
    I would welcome some advice.

    It should just work.

Try powering the whole lot off and then on again. It sounds like it may have a faulty DVD player in it. (which is relatively common)

Assuming the unit is not under warranty you could transplant the DVD player from the other unit into it...

If the unit was new, the 'Initial Startup' coding needs to be done with Star Diagnosis.

    Cheers

With a pair of malfunctioning units you can have lovely bookends.

Us Europeans take a dim view of used parts.
