Question No Sound On Comand sat nav system

I have a problem with my Command 2 sat Nav. There is no sound on the Radio and it is saying there is no CD in Changer. I have gone into the diagnostic menu and it is showing N1111 Active Type OX0190 (Does this indicate the cd palyer?)(No data transfer between D2b Master and D2N component. The component at location X reports the fault in the D2B ring) Also in Diag D2B components it lists the following:-
    Pos Actual config
    000 IC8 IC8
    OFF 000 108
    OFF 000 190
Does anyone no whether these have to be reconfigured, or is it that the head unit is not seeing the Bose Amp (108) and the Cd changer (190). Does this point to the optical cable?. If so does the optical cable go to the amp first and then the CD palyer. If so where is the amp located? I have done all the obvious complete power down and reset on the head unit. There is a website Maple audio who repair the head unit but I don't really want to send it if the fibre optic cable is the problem. It would be great if anyone can help Dylan

    Hi,

One of the items on the fibre optic bus is broken

Please send us all the error codes starting with N (with the extra info shown on each line)

Most likely that the CD changer has failed

You could go to the MB dealer and order part nr A000 545 33 84
this is a fibre joiner, so you would dismantle the CD changer fibre connector and plug the fibres into the joiner (it is 'handed', so red in one end white in other) and see if that makes it work.
If its not the CDC, try the same with the BOSE amp, and if the COMAND then sees the CDC then you know its the BOSE. If it doesnt it could be both items or a break in the fibre or the head unit, all being unlikely.

    Cheers
    Richard

    Default Fault codes command 2

    Hi
    The following fault codes:-
    SAE Code Type CNT State
    N1111 0X190 36 A
    N1112 0X0000 002 P
    B1010 0X0000 001 P
This the full listing. Unfortunately I'm off to work for a couple of weeks now so I won't be able try the the fibre optic connector until I come back. I was going to send my head unit away to be checked, would you leave that unil I have tried the fibre optic cable.
    Thanks for the help

Well, the CDC is saying it can't see the previous unit. This suggests that the head unit is fine (as its not the previous unit), and either the transmit side of the previous unit (amp) or receive side of CDC, or fibre between is broken.

I'd try the loops before taking the head unit out.

    Default Command 2 problems

    Thanks Richard
When I get home I'll try the Fibre optic link as you suggested. Do you know where the amp is positioned.
    Thanks Dylan

On a RHD one its up behind the steering column. I don't know whether its behind the passenger glovebox on LHD or whether it moves across.

    Hi
I have tried the fibre optic cable jointing clamp on the cd storage unit and this had no success. I was going to try this on the amp but I am having trouble removing it. Can you do this from the bottom? or do you have to remove the dash. I have removed the retaining bolt but I can not get my hands up to remove the cables. If I do manage to remove them I doubt I will get them back in. Do you require special tools to remove the dash, I'm concerened I will damage it. Do these merc manuals you buy contain diagrams how to remove panels etc.
    Regards Dylan
