    Post CLK350 (W209) Navigation upgrade [USA/CA]

Hi all - I am interested in upgrading my 2006 CLK350 with a navigation unit, and the best I can determine it has an Audio 20 unit installed with 6-Disk CD changer. I have read everything I can find, but still confused on what is required for the conversion. I believe I need a MCS-II instead of APS unit for the US and hoping someone could offer some assistance. I have been looking at two units for the navigation head (A209 870 01 89 & A209 820 78 89). Will either of these work in my car and what other parts would I need? Any help would greatly be appreciated.

    Hi

You will need the head unit (MCS-II for USA as you say) and a GPS antenna & adapter cable.

Here is a link to somewhere to get the GPS antenna/adapter cable (combined as 1 product)

Comand Online Ltd :: COMAND Retrofit parts :: Genuine MB GPS Antenna and adapter for DVD and Hard Disk COMAND APS

(register and it will remove the sales tax)

There have been a number of MCS-II units over time for W209 (in date order)
    A209 870 01 89
    A209 870 07 89
    A209 870 39 89
    A209 870 69 89
    A209 870 20 89

I tend to recommend getting the newest one in that list you can

You will need to get the MB dealer to enable the navigation menu in the cluster and code the MOST ring order on the head unit to show you have CDC (and phone if you have that)

You can find instructions on how to dismantle/install at Mercedes Electronics upgrades, installation and retrofits

Richard - Thank you for the response on part numbers and additional items needed.

The only unit I can currently find for sale has the part number A209 820 78 89 and I suspect it is from a CLK500 (not sure of the year). I will wait until the correct unit becomes available.

Where does the GPS Antenna mount?

Actually, that part is also on EPC - I just missed it as its not shown as a follow on part like the others, its even newer so good.

Put the GPS antenna under the dashboard, above the cluster is the best place (i.e highest out of sight point). GPS signals go through glass and plastic but not metal
