Default W211 audio 50 aps to comand system

    Hi !
I am a owner of a mercedes e class (w211) from 2003 with an audio 50 aps and GPS system (just arrows). I'd like to upgrade to a comand system.
I read on differents posts that i need the COMAND system and a Navigation Processor. I just need those 2 things ?
I'd like to know if i can install the COMAND-APS (NTG2.5) unit ? If yes, i can use my iphone with bluetooth ?

    Thanks.

To upgrade Audio-50-APS to NTG1 DVD , you need

    a) COMAND
    b) Navigation processor
    c) Boot carpet and bracket if the wrong boot carpet is installed. The right boot carpet has a flip open door about 8" x 8" and is flat.
    d) Navigation processor wiring loom & fibre loom, although on some cars that is there already and just needs connectingand GPS antenna re-plugging and a fibre connection done in rear left hand side wiring duct.

Putting NTG2.5 into a car with Audio-50-APS, Audio-20-Casette, or COMAND needs a complicated wiring loom run from back to front of car (i.e from the amplifer in the boot to the head unit). Yes NTG2.5 works with the iPhone

It depends entirely which month build the car is. If there is an audio gateway in the rear left of the car then NTG1 is easier.

We bought it a couple of months after the initial release in Europe (june 2002)

Its probably got the wiring in it and the right carpet/bracket then. The early ones seem to have that when you have the Audio-50-APS (which has the amplifier Benzmodz has mentioned) so NTG1 is much simpler than NTG2.

I know of a new product coming in January that provides bluetooth phone and bluetooth audio streaming (from an iPhone for instance) (pretends to be CD changer for that function), that will be under £500 I think and reasonably easy to fit ... will let you know more when it comes.

    Cheers

edit: I presume that your car does not have the phone system in it. If it does, you need a bluetooth adapter and an iPod kit.
