    Default Phone retrofit in E-class 220 W211 2005

    Hello to you all!
    I'm new to this forum and a new owner of a 2005 E-class 220 CDI W211.

My car came with the audio 20 system and without any phone interface. If i press the answer key on the steering wheel, "Function Unavailable" is displayed.

I would like to ask you if there is any possibility to retrofit a phone interface or some kind of bluetooth connection with the audio 20 system, and what parts and wiring do i need.

I live in Romania, by the way!
    Thank you.

Theres a kit to install the factory phone system here: -

Comand Online Ltd :: Mercedes Phone Retrofit Kits :: Phone retrofit kit for MOST based cars

You can optionally put the cradle connector in the armrest like on the factory fit, but if using Bluetooth you may aswell mount in the main glovebox as you never need access to it

Comand Online Ltd :: Mercedes Phone Retrofit Kits :: W211 (E class) Phone retrofit upto MY2007 - centre console parts

And then you need a phone cradle , lots here: -

Comand Online Ltd :: Phone Cradles & Adapters

If you register on that shop it will work out whether in needs to charge the UK 15% VAT or not
    Cheers

If you install a 2009 Audio 20 radio it will come with Bluetooth. Then all you need is a microphone system.

    Default Thank you!

Thank you for your quick answer.
One more question though... Browsing on the net i stumbled upon this site:

KUFATEC GmbH - FISCON Freisprecheinrichtung Mercedes "Basic"

I would like to know your professional opinion and if someone has it installed, please let me know how it works, signal and voice quality, ease of use, etc.

    Best regards.
    Pete

PS, Benzmodz' suggestion of using a 2009 E class Audio-20 and a conversion kit ( see Comand Online Ltd ) is also a good way of doing this - and quite likely cheaper then putting in a whole bluetooth phone retrofit ..

    Cheers

    Thank you Richard!

You say it's cheaper that way.
Can you send me a link or something with the 2009 audio 20 so i know what to look for?

    Regards!

    Sorry for delay

Mercedes Radio Audio 20 NTG 2.5 Wechsler E-Klasse W211 on eBay (end time 09-Feb-10 13:57:26 GMT)

That one has CD changer built in, you can get them without CD changer built in (but note that an existing CDC will not work)

    Thank you Richard!

I found an Audio 20 NTG 2.5 type AL2820. Is this ok? Do i need some adapter cable or something? I have the Audio 20 CD Becker without CD changer.

Ok, to put a NTG2.5 unit in an W211/W219 (E/CLS) the easiest thing to use is this: -

It includes bluetooth antenna, microphone and a converter loom to convert the existing wiring. Do not plug the unit in without the wiring converter, power wiring is on different pins and it may damage the NTG2.5 unit

    Comand Online Ltd :: Mercedes SatNav/COMAND :: COMAND Retrofit parts :: W211 last E, W219 CLS :: W211/W219/R171 E/CLS/SLK Audio-20-CD to COMAND NTG2.5 conversion set for cars without phone
