    Default UMI Question

Hello again everyone. I have a question regarding my new UMI Installation.

I use a USB stick that has an orange light on it. When you insert the USB stick into a device that is powered on, the orange light stays lit. This is normal.

I noticed the other day. When my car is turn off, parked for hours and that same USB stick is plugged into the UMI controller in my Glovebox the light stays lit even though the car is off and no key is in the ignition.

Is the UMI powered at all times? Will this cause a drain on my battery? Do you think the install is botched somehow? Not sure how this can be as the wiring harnesses are all pre-configured at teh factory.

Another indication is that when my phone (which I use for bluetooth streaming to the UMI) is sitting in my house. Again, the car is off and has been sitting for hours. My phone shows it is still connecteed to the UMI.

I'm not so sure any of this is right. Does anyone know?

As a rule, all MOST optical devices have constant power.

The UMI and the Phone kit always have power. However the USB stick does not draw significant amounts of power.

Try removing the USB stick and seeing if the bluetooth powers down. It is not typical for the bluetooth to stay awake when the ignition is off.

In all of the instances where I tested the NTG2.5 technology with UMI the bluetooth dropped out from the car as soon as the key was pulled out.

If you have keyless go then I have to wonder if that matters, but it should still drop out the bluetooth on key position 0.

What a thorough awnser! Thank you. I will try tonight removing the stick and see if the Bluetooth drops. I can't believe someone out there actually knows this stuff like you do!

    Haha Thanks again!
