Sorry if this is a dumb question. I'm new to Mecedes ownership here in California. I recently bought a C320, 2001, and I'd very much like to get my iPhone and iPod working, so that the iPhone works through the steering wheel controls and the iPod through the radio. Besides the regular radio, it also has the CD changer in the glove box if that makes a difference. According to the manual that came with the car, it's a 203, which makes it sensible that it's a W203 vehicle?
Obviously, at least to me, the phone would work throught steering control and mute the radio. The iPod would work through the radio and be muted by an incoming or outgoing call. (This is how it worked when I had a Parrot device installed on my previous vehicle and had an Aux input for the iPod added to the radio.) When I scroll through the wheel settings, I see an option for the telephone, and I found a previous Tele-Aid subscriber agreement, but it's been inactive for several years. I've looked through the forum, but I'm afraid much of discussion doesn't seem to apply or it doesn't make sense, the latter of which I'm sure is my inadequate knowledge of MB vechicles. When I talked to the parts guy at the local MB dealership, he quoted me something like $2000, saying something about it needed to be coverted from analog to digital? I don't really want to go the route of having someone mount something onto the MB dash. It's a very nice dash, and I don't want to ruin it. I suppose I could use a visor for the iPhone, such as Supertooth3, but it's not my first choice, since this would be yet another distraction while driving. All help appreciated! Jonathan I'm also assuming that the iPod installation would be relatively simple, given my previous experience having someone do this, but this is of course an assumption on my part. I've posted some pictures of the dash, etc., but I'm happy to post others, look under the hood, etc., if it'll help. Last edited by jgsailor; 11-26-2009 at 06:21 PM. |

Hi
The stereo in the car was designed before iPods got popular, and there is only 1 real solution that gets audio into that head unit, and that is the Dension GW 500 D2B, more details here: - Comand Online Ltd :: iPod Kits :: Dension GW500 D2B - iPod kit for older D2B based cars (register and it will remove the UK 15% sales tax) The phone is more complicated, you have to take out the existing stuff and put new parts in, there are kits for 'UHI' and with the centre console parts available in the phone retrofit section on the website above - which will make it easy enough to do.
