Can command from a damaged B Class be fitted straight into a 58 plate class Sport.
Isit a straight replacement for the existing factory fitted radio or do you need any special equipment.
Is it just plug and play?
Thank you.

You need to work out if the 58 plate is a Model Year 09 or not, and whether the other one is model year 09 or not.
Look at the radio, if the phone keys are coloured red & green, then it is MY2009, otherwise if white its MY2008 or before. Assuming same type then its a straight swop BUT you will need a GPS antenna which I would fit under dash above instrument cluster - here is the genuine Mercedes retrofit part

The unit may need coding if one car had phone or CD changer or Harmon Kardon sound system and the other does not - but dealer can easily do that along with various independants.

Many thanks for your help and advice Richard.
Some of the newest 2009 issued units are coded to the car they are in. They need to be "de-coded" so that they can be removed and installed again. Only Star Diagnose can do that.

Thanks, the unit would be from a 2007 car to go into a 2008/58 car.
Ok, the 2007 car will have NTG2 COMAND. (DVD based)
Look at the standard stereo is in the 2008/58 car, if it has telephone buttons that are green/red it will not go in, and you will have to buy NTG2.5 COMAND (which is hard disk based, has bluetooth phone & is much nicer).
Only the A/B class COMAND will fit/work, so dont buy one for a different model.
Both ways you will need a GPS antenna set, and I tend to recommend genuine MB parts for that: -
