Hi,
I have recently purchased a 2007 B class car. It has all the buttons on the steering wheel, but no telephone wiring installed. I'd like a simple but effective solution that means I can connect up my phone via bluetooth to the car. What do I need to install? - is there a simple setup or will I need to install all sorts of interfaces before I put in one of these viseeo dummy phones. Also, my next project would be to get some sort of MP3 functionality, whether plugging in a USB drive or an iPod. What else would I need for this? Many thanks Richard. |

The only thing that comes to my mind is that you would be able to look at getting a NTG 2.5 2009 radio or APS COMAND which then supports a wide range of bluetooth connections.
There would be wiring from the radio to the overhead lining for microphones and a modification of the radio antennae. But it should in theory slide right in.

Thanks.
Looking at the costs of these, it does not look like I get much change for £1000! Why can't car manufacturers follow the computer world and build with standard modular parts... Looks like I have to give up on this idea. Onto my next project: Is there anything I can do to fit a media interface without needing a second mortgage? Thanks Richard. |

Media Interface (the official one) only works with NTG2.5 type systems (which you have already decided against)
The alternative is the standard Mercedes iPod kit which would allow you to connect an iPod, with track display on the cluster display and control from the steering wheel controls. MB are quite modular in the approach, you can add the phone system and a bluetooth interface and put that in the main glovebox , but you're still talking £700 for the parts. Given that cost, i'd be straight back at Benzmodz's original advice to install the latest system. You may be able to find the latest Audio-20 (as oppose to the full COMAND system) a load cheaper. You can recognise it as the phone buttons are coloured red/green (but don't get confused with USA older units which have the same colours) Richard |

I've found myself an Audio-20 with red/green buttons, removed from a new A class. What cables / other specialist kit will I need to get it working?
I assume: Comand Online Ltd :: COMAND Retrofit parts :: Current W169 A, W245 B, Sprinter, Vito, Viano :: COMAND/Audio-20 install kit (NTG2) for W203-C/W209-CLK/Sprinter/Viano/Vito Do I need anything else? Will the telephone buttons on the steering wheel work right away, or do I need to get a dealer to enable them? Thanks Richard. |

Actually you need this..
Comand Online Ltd :: COMAND Retrofit parts :: Current W169 A, W245 B, Sprinter, Vito, Viano :: A/B/CLC/ML/GL/R COMAND NTG2.5 (Hard Disk) retrofit kit - cars without phone. If you dont have a 'phone' menu when you scroll through the menus then you will need that enabling (which enables the phone buttons also) - dealer does this by coding the cluster for 'ipod' present. Cheers Richard |
