Default Unable to copy to the Music Register [W204 C class]

I have a 2009 SLK 350 and I've just had the COMAND unit replaced under warranty.

I've put about 50 CDs (in MP3 format) on a USB flash drive and I'm able to play them through the media interface. I'd like to download them to the Music Register - but the Copy Music Files menu entry is greyed out and is inaccessible.

The mechanic who installed the new COMAND told me that the only way to copy to the Music Register is from a burned CD with MP3 files. It seems unreasonably inconvenient to have to burn 50 CDs just to get the music transferred to the Register.

    Isn't there a better way?

    Thank you for your help!

Has anyone tried the flash memory slot in the middle of the front display.

    I dont beleive you can.

I think this is so because the UCI device (media interface) is another "audio" device on the MOST fibre network, so I dont think the data from the USB is available to the COMAND as data, just as audio and thus it can not copy the data onto its internal hard disk.

As Benzmodz says, try the SD card, but remember the limitations on the SD card described in the manual (2GB and only certain device types supported). Pain that you need to buy a SD card and copy the data from your USB stick to a SD card on a computer, but at least its only "once".
