Hi, I'm doing a retrofit of a comand into my 1999 CLK cabrio, first of all, this forum has been of great help, thanks
![]() I've got the comand as far as radio/CD works fine, but there's no D2B cables in my car, wich leads to the question: -can I simply connect the D2B cable (wich I have to buy) between comand and the telephone unit in the back? Or do they need to be connected somewhere else? I've looked at the wiring diagrams on WIS, but it's hard to tell. The phone works now, but I want to be able to control it from the comand, and not the telephone itself. And the D2B wakeup as well, just connect a cable between comand and telephone unit, or do I find it somewhere else? My car is as said a MY1999, with options 317 (mobile phone, fully integrated in centre console (с 31.10.1996)) and option 756 (radio MB Audio 10 CD with vk and RDS (с 31.10.1996) wich is swapped with the comand unit). I have no other options that would, if installed, be connected to a D2B bus. Thanks for any replies

I am surprised that on a 99 CLK with Audio-10 and the 3110i system that there is no D2B connection. Are you really really sure ??
Audio-10-CD is a D2B fibre based unit ... Does your CLK have steering wheel controls (changed mid 99 I think) Was there a 'C' connector, if so, what colour wires were going into it ? Thanks Richard |

I am surprised myself, as I thought there would be, the previous owner had fitted a Pioneer stereo, so I'm unable to tell if there was a D2B cable connected to the Audio 10 headunit. I've been looking behind the headunit as well as in the door sill, but no D2B cable to be found. It is a pre-facelift (04/1999) model, so no steering wheel controls.
I have nothing connected on the C1 and C2 connector (yet), but if I understand things right, I need the D2B wakeup on C2 pin 10. |

Yes C2 is for wakeup , C1 for power for CD changer.
Given your car had Audio-10, it will have had a 'C' plug which is like the A/B plug but 10 pins. It will have the wakeup in there, so worth looking for that.. Have a look if there is fibre on the phone controller R |

As far as I can tell after digging in the centre console and also looking at the phone module in the back, theres no D2B fibre cable at all in my car. There are no C1 or C2 connectors either, so what I want to do is just buy the D2B cable and connect it between the comand and phone module, as long as I can connect these directly to each other? And I also need to make the C2 connector (I got no cd-changer, so I guess no need for the C1?) Wich again means I have to find the D2B wakeup signal.....or wait...the wakeup is sent from the comand, right? So I can just make the C2 connector and connect the other end of the wakeup cable from comand to the phone module?
Thank you for your help, it's very appreciated ![]() EDIT: -and one more thing, the phone mutes the sound on the comand when in use, even though no D2B connection exists between them. So was there really a need for D2B cables on the Audio 10? For what I know there was no function to control the phone from the Audio 10 headunit, so from what I can see a D2B connection between Audio 10 -> phone module would be of no use (?) EDIT: -checked EPC and I'm unable to be 100% sure, because it comes up with several part numbers.
Either it's A220 820 67 26, or A220 820 09 85 (wich replaced the first), or, I also found the numbers A220 820 00 26 and A210 820 02 35. I'll try to visually unmount and check the part number on the phone controller from the car tomorrow. Last edited by kompressor; 11-11-2009 at 01:18 AM. |

The no. is A220 820 57 26. Attached is a picture of it, is the small contact hole on the controller a d2b contact, wich I can plug the d2b cable into?
I thought the d2b connection on the phone controller would look different. There was nothing plugged in to the smallest contact when I removed it, only a long plug looking similiar to what the printer plug on computers looked like 10-15 yrs ago. EDIT: -photo of both connections here http://cgi.ebay.fr/Mercedes-Nokia-St...:B:SILF:FR:102 the part number is different, but they look the same. Last edited by kompressor; 11-12-2009 at 12:39 AM. |

I've figured it out, the old 3110 system supplied on vehicles without Comand (at least the early w210/208) does not use D2B to the phone controllers. Wich means that I have to swap out both the controller and cradle/phone to be able to operate it from the Comand.
Thanks for your help
