Default Question on 2006 W219 iPod module cable routing

    Hi,

I have a 2006 W219, COMAND APS NTG1, euro model, left-hand steering, telephone activated, no iPod/iPhone module installed, HK audio.

So, in order to have full iPhone/iPod integration, I would need these:
comandonline.co.uk iPod kit and comandonline.co.uk iPhone cradle (w/ interconnecting cable).

Here's my question: since the cradle will go into the center console box, I assume the iPod kit cable will have to be routed there instead the passenger side glove box?

If so, what would be the correct route from the back of the car for this?

    Regards,
    -Sten

You also need this lead: -

Comand Online Ltd :: iPod Kits :: Mercedes iPhone Cradle -> iPod Kit lead

This connects the connector on the cradle to the iPod interface (and you don't then install the iPod interface -> iPod cable)

The iPod interface needs to go in the normal position (above passenger footwell kick plate) because the wiring loom connects to that, the AUX in on COMAND and the CANbus distributor. You can see these in the iPod E class retrofit document on Mercedes Electronics upgrades, installation and retrofits that I wrote

    Kind Regards
    Richard

Got the parts intstalled, took me no less that 11 hours to complete! Routed all the cables through the proper ducts and made sure everything was neat and kosher. It all works, but I was left with 2 questions:

    1) In trunk, where the iPod loom connects to the AGW, there's the little blue connector which you are supposed to swap the brown/red and brown wires out of. Did that, but there's no socket to connect the blue connector to. Is it supposed to be left dangling there?

    2) In the center console box, there's no place for the iPod cable connector to be tucked away. The small shelf on which the iPod cradle rests on is already packed tight with the existing wires and the cable coming from the cradle is fairly short (~10cm) and thick, which further limits the potential places for the connectors. What is the manufacturer proposed place for the connector anyway?

Other than those two issues, the tutorials you've posted were very helpful. Thank you!
