Thread: mystery cable and plug in glove box??

Hi -
ive just bought a jan 08 cls with comand and i have a cable in the glove box with what looks like an ipod attachment (also has a box to fit an ipod in) prob is when i connect it to my ipod it doesn't work - the ipod comes up with a merc symbol and the message ' safe to disconnect.
Tried my iphone too and that just comes up with a message on my iphone that says accessory incompatible.
any ideas how i get my ipod to work?

also im getting bad reception on radio channels - any suggestion how i improve this

You need to select the iPod ! This is done by selecting AUX via the Audio menu on COMAND, or holding down the CDC button for a few seconds on Audio 20.

It is then controlled from the steering wheel controls and track names viewed on the instrument cluster display

As to bad radio, theres lots of causes, it may just be that reception is bad, or there is a failed antenna amp etc etc, so thats one to ask the dealer if you find it unacceptable.

I tried the aux button as I thought that would do the trick but that made no difference I'm afraid.
Anything else I can try?
