Default Iphone Cradle I think is causing problems for COMAND on W211 E

    Hi there...

Newbie here and pulling my hair out. I recently got an iPhone cradle (A2048204651 - 09W13 ; HW:1008; SW:4608) which seemingly works reasonably well. This is for a 2006 E class.

Recently though I have had a problem with my COMAND switching off by itself. I get the "AUDIO off" message on the dash and 10-20 seconds later it starts up again. I had recently changed the NAV disc to the latest version, and thought it was the navigation disc that was causing this problem. I installed the old disc and it still happened. The problem was the issue was intermittant. On a long drive it would be fine and then all of a sudden within a 10min drive it would cycle on and off 10 times!!!

Anyhow I had a dig around the Engineering menu and looked at the "error" list. I saw most of the entries here had something to do with AddressBook. So I removed the new cradle and viola (touch wood), the system has not recylced itself since.

    So three questions -

Do I have the correct cradle for my car?
I am using iPhone 3G with (3.1 SW)

And secondly is there a fix for this issue?

And finally how can I determine if I have the latest firmware for the NAV, Head unit and any other bits that might need an update?

    Many thanks Steve

You would want to do the following flash upgrades to the car:

    - Audio gateway
    - COMAND
    - UHI module
    - Central Gateway

In that order of priority. The problem isnt so much the address book as the age of the modules and the old software not knowing how to handle the iPhone.

While you are there flashing the modules you may as well do the fuse boxes and battery controller.

The cradle is simply too new for the car.

Thanks! Can this be a DIY (and if so where do I obtain SW and how do I install) or is it dealership only process?
