Thread: Comand NTG2.0 update

Hi,
I'll buy in few days an used ML320cdi (W164) of march 2006, it has Comand NTG2.0 version and the DVD is V4.0.

a. Can I upgrade directly to V.11 (2009/2010) or do I have to upgrade to an intermediate version and than upgrade to V.11? Do I have to buy the V.11 DVD only or do I have also to upgrade some other firmware/software?

b. I would like to add an audio/video interface with DVD changer and DVB tuner but I'm not sure if the Comand has the green Fakra connector for Video in. Do I have to disassemble the Command to know this or this can be discovered in some other way?

On the second question, the part number of the unit reveals whether or not it has the video in. I suspect that it wont have it but then it comes down to batch variations. The part number can be seen via a diagnostic scan.

If you intend to remove the unit for inspection that will take about 3 minutes.

And to answer the 1st question, you can go straight to V11.

Unrelated to V11 map disk, there was a firmware update for the AGW in the COMAND unit (which is only installable by someone with Star Diagnosis) in early 2006 which fixed an issue where traffic jams were shown on the wrong side of the road in countries where you drive on the left. You also need that upgrade for TMC in France to function. - But it doesnt stop you from using V11 map disk.

I'm 99% sure a 2006 ML will have the green fakra. My 2007 ML car did.
