    Default CL63 Audio problem

Hi, I have a CL63 with an intermitent Audio problem... most of the time it doesnt work! A recent Mercedes visit has diagnosed the TV tuner part No. A221 900 48 01 as the source of the problem... this unit is £1,100, is it posible to get it repaired, if so does any one have a contact?

    Regards

    Simon

Have they actually bypassed it for you so you can use the system AND you know it really is the TV tuner ?

I doubt there are any repairers unless its a dry joint, which it may be given it sometimes works

How close are you to Lightwater in Surrey ? (Comand Europe / Unique Car Sound & Security)

    Cheers

The reality of car ownership is that once you pay for the car you have to keep paying for things like tyres, petrol, MOT and parts.

Richard, I don't think they tried that, it would suit me not to have the TV tuner if the unit will operate without it, is it a big job to bypass? Is it a job that I could just pop into Unique with?

A bypass part costs less than a coffee at McDonalds and you remove the optical cables from the TV tuner very carefully and then insert them both into the bypass component.

There are two types of bypass. One type requires the original TV tuner connector to be dismantled and replaced with the joiner. The other type has a 180 degree loop of fibre optic cable in a holder and that usually clicks onto the original connector.

Since it is a TV tuner and not a CD player the shape of the connector favours the first method outlined.

Just for completeness, it was the linguatronic module that is faulty not the TV tuner.

Only the CD stacker has the same connector as the loop ring.
