Default iPod failure [only sound in 1 channel]

    Hello everyone,
I have a Mercedes R 280-2007y. Recently my iPod right channel stopped working. I've checked the iPod and it's OK. The stereo working properly in Radio mode. When I put on iPod mode the right channel is missing. The Mercedes service in my country is useless for this problem, they are not able to fix it.
So, guys if someone is familiar or experienced with this problem, please help.
    Thanks in advanced
    Regards

Sounds like a broken wire. Using the wiring diagram it would be easy to figure it out.

To add a bit more info

There are 5 things involved here.

    a) iPod's audio output via the multiway connector.
    b) Cable from iPod to control unit
    c) Control unit
    d) Cable from Control unit to back of stereo
    e) The AUX in on the stereo.

In terms of likelyhood of failure, i'd put it in the order
    b, d, a, c, e
Or of course some connection could be loose.

You can check (a) by trying a different iPod. The rest will require disassembly and inspection and replacement. You may be able to determine if it is (b) by wiggling the cable a lot and seeing if the sound comes back.

    Thanks Richard,
I've checked with different iPod and the effect was the same, no right channel.
Now I will disconnect the whole cable line with the control unit and will check for
malfunction. The only think that I'm afraid is that the dashboard will not working
properly without control unit. Will see.
    Thanks for info
