Default Comand APS NTG2 retrofit in 2007 W209 CLK

Comand APS NTG2 retrofit in 2007 build date W209 CLK

Hi Gurus, Firstly thanks to Alfie who I spoke to briefly yesterday, it was merely a matter of turning the phone on and pairing.

Couple of questions about my retrofit which I have searched for and can’t find the exact answers:

    • First is about the picture attached below should the lead be connected to anything and if not what’s it for?
    • I need to get my cluster coded so that Nav shows on the dash, my car is a late 2007 build car but on an 09 plate and the Comand I have fitted was produced in 2009, meant to get the serial numbers off the side but forgot, Alfie said I would need a Star unit no later than 2007 to program but I can’t remember whether I told him that it was a 2009 Comand unit.
    • At the moment everything attached to the Comand unit is working i.e. Aux socket, 6 CD changer and phone, will I still need to get the MOST devices set up in the order they appear on the BUS or does this mean all is ok?
    • If I didn’t disconnect all of the wires to the console switches above the Comand unit will it still have produced a fault code? (Soft top hood switch was disconnected)
    • As the Comand unit is a 2009 build will it still require a firmware update via Star, will it require any software updates, at the moment I’m running a 2007/8 OEM disk that the supplier included with the sale & what is the latest disc serial No. I can use?
    • Finally I’ve read the instructions Richard wrote for cluster and MOST programming for a retro fit on a W208, is there a set of instructions/guide I can supply my dealer regarding the above programming as their reply of “We haven’t done anything like this before” didn’t exactly fill me with confidence.

Can I take the opportunity to thank the contributors to this board and to Richard for his web site, extremely useful and made retrofitting of my Comand unit plain sailing.

The extra cable is for a fan.

If the soft top is not connected then it will product a CAN-bus error on the OBD port not the GPS.

MOST can work even when it is not correctly stored. But for reliable function it can be done with the diagnostic.

Firmware updates are determined by the diagnostic.

No need to connect it to anything

Tell dealer, using Star Diagnosis to
Goto instrument cluster -> adaptations and set NAVIGATION to present
Goto AGW and do the 'MOST retrofit' procedure.

    Cheers

Thanks Richard, something else I forgot to ask is it ok to leave the Nav disk in the unit all the time or will Comand be constantly reading it thus bringing on premature wear of the laser unit etc?

Thanks Richard & BenzModz I gave the instructions to the dealer who completed the task for me, Nav is now showing on the Dash, Comand updated & faults cleared (I hope), the dealer even commented that it was quite easy. :-)
