Its a straight forward swop.
However, if your map disk is older than the last map disk that was in the satnav drive, you may find that it won't load your old map disk.
This is particularly so if you disk is before V7 or V8 and its had a V8 disk put in it
That is because the map disk contains firmware for the navigation processor.
When you remove/re-install be very careful not to catch or damage any of the wiring, in particular the fibre optics (orange cables) as replacing those is a big task. It is very easy to get it snagged on the sharp metal edges of the bracket the navigation drive is in.

If your map is older than V7 then i'd suggest updating the Navigation map to the latest version to ensure you don't end up with the wrong map for the firmware loaded ...
Europe one is here: -

Removal keys (although on a W211 you can probably stick your fingers down the side of the carpet and push the catches in) are here

RICHARD,,SHOULD I ASK MERCDES TO DO THE SWOP OR ITS EASY ANAFF FOR ME TO TACLKE AT
THKS![]()
Will i need any special tools to swop the nav unit
I gave a link to the tool a couple of posts above.
But, as you have the new drive, you can see how the latches work, and as the surround of the nav drive is the boot carpet, you can usually get your fingers down the side and push the catches in and wiggle the thing out without tools
