    Default iPod integration kit in 2006 W169

    Hi, I have a used iPod integration kit with the part number B6 782 4565 on the main unit and a 2006 A-Class W169 with the standard Audio 20. Before I start taking the dash to bits, does anyone know whether this kit is compatible with my car?

    The text on the unit says iPod-Interface 2-03. The only useful thing I could find in Google was somebody in Germany selling the same kit along with the older style Audio 50 Navigation unit with the smaller LCD screen from a Viano - here. Both the manuals it came with are from 2008.

    Would much appreciate any advice you could offer.

    All what the iPod kit does is

    * Connects to the AUX port
    * Obtains power
    * Injects itself into the CANBus B lines before the radio.

    They are all basically the same. So long as yours is capable for the radio you want to use it with, it will be fine.

    Just check with the dealer at Mercedes if that part number is sold with that radio. '

    Sometimes when space was at a premium I would install a CD changer power cable, use the provided AUX cable and then splice the CANbus-B with Mercedes style connectors.

    Hi

    That part number is just the control unit in the kit (the black box in the picture you link to on eBay)

    You need to know the part number of the kit to check it is correct

    That box is the correct part for your car though, the question is whether the wiring loom is the correct one, as the boxes get used in various kits as BenzModz says

    Cheers

    Default Thank you!

    I didn't have the part number for the kit, so I took a chance on installing it anyway, and it works brilliantly. It took less than 45 minutes, although removing the vents was trickier than I'd imagined. I also pulled out the CD holder thing in the glove box to make more room for the iPod holder.

    I resorted to an aftermarket Alpine unit in my last car (a Smart Forfour) so it's really nice to have it all integrated properly with the steering controls.

    Many thanks for your helpful answers - knowing it was at least the right unit gave the confidence to have a go.
