Default w211 Audio 50 APS [upgrade to] DVD navigation system

    Hello,
I have mercedes W211, 2005 with 50APS DVD navi system + 6 CD unit, Harmon Kardon. I would like to have the bigger "Mercedes W211 Navigation Comand " and I don't know what to do. The e-bay seller is telling me, I just need to take the existing one out and replace it with the "big display" one, buy one extra cabel to connect the new one, and it will work ? I see some chats / comments, that it needs (navigation module) an additional unit in the trunk ? I am confused now. I simply would like to have the big navigation wich might read the DVD-S aswell and have a nice big display for Navigation ? Can someone help, suggest me, before I decide to buy it ?
    Thank you !

The Audio-50-APS head unit and the COMAND unit are a straight swop.

However, you still then need to install the navigation unit in the boot.

    For that you need
    Wiring (just all plugs in)
Fibre optics (ditto but slightly more tricky)
If your car does not have parktronic (or certain other options), then you will also need
2 part bracket in boot and nuts to secure
    New left boot carpet

If you look on the left side of your boot, if the trim is basically flat with a door in it about 8" x 6" then you have the brackets already. If it only has a door 2" x 6" then you need the bracket.

    Wiring/fibre is available here: -

Comand Online Ltd :: Mercedes SatNav/COMAND :: COMAND Retrofit parts :: W211/W219 (E/CLS) Navigation Drive Wiring Kit (NTG1)

You can see instructions how to fit the whole system if your car had Audio-20 on Mercedes Electronics upgrades, installation and retrofits BUT you only have to do the navigation processor part and swop the head unit, no major wiring loom from front to back is needed....
I think that document has the part numbers of the brackets and the 4 possible carpet combinations (black or grey, with or without through loading option)

It is a great upgrade - well worth doing !!
