Default Comand C Class reset problem

    Hi
I have a UK 56 plate C Class with Comand APS. Periodically and for no apparent reason it resets itself, usually after it has been standing for a while. Rarely does it reset when I am driving, though it does very occasionally. The unit starts up and (depending on which screen I am on) either the radio shows 'alle' at the top rather than All (i.e. its in German) or if I'm on the map screen, it shows that I am somewhere in Germany.

On looking at Navigation, it has defaulted back to German instead of English and looks for German destinations. In addition it defaults back to pointing north rather then up (which I refer). Finally it loses all the destinations in the destination memory.

I've asked the dealer to look at it on two occasions but they have made no difference. This happens about every two to three weeks, though sometimes it can go two days and do it again. It doesn't appear to be failing, but it is annoying. Is there anything I can do?

    Hi
What you are seeing is a "full" reset as though power has been lost. Either you have a loose connection (which seems unlikely) or the unit is crashing.

Part of the software in the unit is loaded from the navigation disk, so firstly i'd ensure you have the latest navigation disk

Comand Online Ltd :: Mercedes SatNav/COMAND :: Mercedes Navigation Disks :: Comand APS Map DVD Europe 2010/2011 (V12.0) for A,B,W203 C,CLK,ML,R,GL, Sprinter, Viano, Vito

As you car is 56 plate, the other part of the software is in the AGW (built into the head unit) but will be upto-date as the last release for that was in early 2006. That can only be updated with the dealer computer (Star Diagnosis)

If that doesn't fix it, it may be that the unit needs repairing or replacing.
