Default What else would I need?.... TV tuner retrofit into W221 S Class

Hi all....

I am going down to COMAND online in Ascot this Friday to sort out a radio tuner issue, however, I am in the process of retrofitting the TV tuner into my car..... I thought I maight get them to code it all in for me if I can get everything in place before hand thereby killing two birds with one stone as they say!.

I have the following components.....
  • 221 Digital/Analogue TV Tuner - Fitted into bracket in boot already
  • Rear Entertainment System - Factory fitted but without TV tuner!
  • Mercedes Wiring Loom (correct version for car with rear entertainment system)
  • Rear Screen Antenna - Just fitted that now so it is in place.

The wiring loom runs to all sorts of places around the car and seems to replace the one already feeing the rear DVD player in the centre armrest and has various power connections etc. to make.

Does the TV system require any other components that I may have missed?

Thanks

Fibre optics and joiner to integrate it into the ring. It would be much better to have at least power and fibre to the TV tuner because then it will be easier to work out where in the fibre loop it appears, even if no other wiring is done

Thanks for the reply Richard.... hope all went well today!!

I have a temporary feed to the tuner and I have coded it in so it works on the front screen (No antenna feed at the moment though until I get the wiring in place)

I also have a load of fibre bits which I can use to integrate it into the ring.

Does it not matter where it appears in the ring? Can that be changed via star?

Thanks

Ring order can be set in Star. I'd put it between the amplifier and the component before and then configure that in Star (you can tell Star to adopt the current configuration as the proper configuration)

OK..... finally got the TV working (in the front only up to now)

I am most pleased and very grateful to Richard who helped with a "spare" cable which was in the loom. I had taped it up, but it turned out to be the one to turn on the amps at the antenna!!

Just need to work out why it isn't working on the rear screens now. It shows TV as a menu option, but when you click on it it just says "NO TV" in the middle of the screen....
