I recently purchased a 2002 E320 and am trying to get things working. Right now, it seems that the only thing that works is the comand.
Here is what I found on initial checks: DIAG Errors- SAE Code Type Cnt State N1112 0x0000 015 P N1113 0x0000 207 A B1010 0x0000 004 P B1762 0x0000 002 P B1736 0x0002 052 P B1736 0x0010 120 P The DIAG D2B Components shows- Pos Actual Config (component) 000 1C8 1C8 (COMAND) OFF 000 0F0 (Phone) OFF 000 1F8 (Voice Recognition) OFF 000 190 (CD Changer) OFF 000 0E0 (Teleaid) OFF 000 000 I don't know exactly what this means, but I'm guessing that Config is what is configured on the bus (what is programmed in) and Actual is what is found. The car has the following hardware: -COMAND -Phone (linear compensator/PSE/cradle). There is no phone in the car, but I do have a working MB branded timeport (from a 2001 E320) that I tried, but it doesn't work in the 2002. The 01 and 02 have both have hardware to support timeport operation. -Voice Recognition Module -I don't have a multi-disc CD changer (the wiring is there - it may have been removed). Could that be the problem? -Teleaid Suggestions for further troubleshooting? Last edited by brooktre; 07-09-2010 at 12:47 AM. Reason: update information |

Your problem is the missing CD changer. The fibre optic is a loop - a missing or broken device means nothing on the loop works.
You can get a 'joiner', disassemble the plug and connect the 2 fibres together. It is part nr A000 545 33 84 available from MB dealer Richard Ps. this may be useful: Mercedes D2B Fibre Optics |

I inspected the CD Changer area closely and it doesn't appear that a changer was ever installed. There are no mounting holes / signs of a bracket and the fiber optic cable has a cover on the end (as you would expect to see on the pre-installed harness). I doubt that someone would replace that cover if they removed a changer (it is unlikely that the cover would be there). I suspect that a changer was never installed.
What seems to be strange is that the system is now set up to include a CD Changer. |

Take the cover off, have someone turn on comand, if there is flashing light on the fibre you know it's part of the loop.

Ps. The error codes say the comand doesn't know where the d2b fault is, which means I'd check the previous item on the ring - which in theory is tele aid, but I don't quite trust that config info.
Assuming it's not a missing cd changer you need to check/bypass each item using that joiner I mentioned above. R Last edited by richard; 07-11-2010 at 10:42 AM. |

I got a bypass connector (A000 545 33 84) at the dealer and they also gave me an old timeport to test the system. After installing the bypass everything worked. Unfortunately, Verizon would not activate the phone because it not 911 compliant. I gave the phone back to the dealer since I couldn't use it.
I erased the error codes and none have returned yet. Here are the results of what is installed (per Comand menus): DIAG D2B Components shows- Pos Actual Config (component) 000 1C8 1C8 (COMAND / COMAND) 001 0F0 0F0 (Phone / Phone) 002 1F8 1F8 (Voice Recognition / VR) 003 0E0 190 (Teleaid / CD Changer) OFF 000 0E0 (nothing / Teleaid) OFF 000 000 So, it seems that other than Teleaid being in the CD Changer position everything is OK. Should I expect any problems from this mismatch? If so, If I swap fiber wires between the Teleaid and bypass will that correct? Because I can't get the timeport to work I guess I'll go after bluetooth. Since I have a blue PSE, I think I only need: B67875856 - MB V60 Bluetooth Cradle Adaptor Q6820976 - V60 Cradle Eliminator Cable |
