Default W245 (B-Class) MY06 Audio 20 to MY09+ Audio 20

Hi there,

First, there is another thread in the Audio Answers for a new style Audio 20 for w245, but it's does not answer my questions.
I think what I am asking for this what is required to install the new Audio 20 w/BT (NGT 2.5?) into a w245 with the older Audio 20 (NGT 2? US/Canada model with red and green phone buttons) w/o phone? Is it plug n play? Is it PnP with a Comand 2.0 to NGT 2.5 kit from Comandonline
Comand Online Ltd :: Mercedes SatNav/COMAND :: COMAND Retrofit parts :: A/B/C/CLC/VITO/VIANO Comand 2.0 to NTG2.5 wiring kit cars WITHOUT phone
or is it this one?
Comand Online Ltd :: Mercedes SatNav/COMAND :: COMAND Retrofit parts :: Current W169 A, W245 B, Sprinter, Vito, Viano :: A/B/CLC/ML/GL/R COMAND NTG2.5 (Hard Disk) retrofit kit - cars without phone.
I am not very skilled with electrical connections so I don't really want to mess with pin changes and the like, so PnP is the best. I also live in Canada, if I bought a headunit from Europe will it work in North American ( radio reception)? Thanks for your help, it is very appreciated.

Anthony

You need to move one wire over or buy the adaptor.

NTG2 to NTG 2.5 adaptor.

The main difference is the location of the radio antenna power.

Otherwise you also gain Bluetooth, a better sound (IMHO) and in some models a CD stacker and the option of installing the newest ipod kit called UCI.

The only other option is the microphone wiring. You need to check the Teleaid system to determine how that may be affected.

Thanks for your quick reply. Could you point me to which is the NTG 2.0 to NTG 2.5 adapter? Is that the Comand 2.0 to NTG2.5 adapter? The new Audio 20 sounds promising , do you know if there is a difference between the Euro Spec and the North American Spec head units? Should I only buy the NA spec unit?

The COMAND 2.0 is a different beast. That is for totally different wiring. The online store COMAND ONLINE is probably the best place to source this specific adaptor. Otherwise refer to the advice of Richard regarding the retrofit.

I know for a fact that the NTG2.5 from Europe does not and will not accept the USA mapping system. You must purchase the USA NTG2.5 even though it looks and seems identical. This applies only to USA and Canadian clients.

As I said, the unresolved question is over the Teleaid function and microphone splitter. This may require someone to perform a customised analysis and generate a document for you which has all of the wiring changes between the year models.

- Antenna power relocation pin change
- Microphone changes
- Optical ring changes

A quick diagnostic session with a newer car would be the perfect way to start answering these questions in the shortest time. The comparison data is rather useful.
