Default W203 MSCII Comand Bricked

Hello,

I have a 2005 C230 and I bought an MCSII comand off someone locally. It worked fine in my car for 2 years. I was using the 2006.1 map disc.

Then one day I put in the 2007.1 map disc to update it, but the update did not work. The progress bar got about 2/3 through then it started over, and it just continuously did this. I let it run for like 30-45 minutes.

The comand would not respond so eventually I pulled the fuse to get it to restart. At this point it just loads up the Mercedes logo and freezes.

I took the comand out and noticed that the lower half of the comand is an A203 part number, but the upper (nav) portion is an A164 820 60 89 part number. Looks like someone hacked this thing together. I took the nav drive off and put the comand back, it all works fine as far as radio/phone etc, just no nav now that the nav drive/processor is removed.

I purchased two comand update only discs to try to reflash it but neither worked: 203 589 03 22 00 and 203 589 04 22 00.

So I'm looking for a way to repair/reflash my nav drive.

Thanks,

Nick.

Hi
The NAV processor is often a W164 part on MCS-II

Talk to sales@comandonline.co.uk - they have a used W164 unit, so you can take the navigation unit from that and put it in your MCS-II easily enough

Hey Richard,

Updating this old thread because I still have not gotten around to purchasing a replacement nav drive.

I noticed in another thread that you mentioned you could swap the face from a w203 comand onto a w164 comand? Has this been tested?

I would love to have backup camera functionality so with my situation, I could just pick up an entire w164 comand with nav drive and swap my w203 face onto it?

Thanks,

Nick.

Awesome... good to hear. I cant find any info on it, I've searched around.

I'm sure the swap is straight forward?
