Thanks. Is the CANbus wires brown and brown/red twisted pair connected to the C2 connector?

I have a pair of brown and red/brown wires connected to the C1 small 8 pin connector. Is that for the CANbus? Or is the CANbus wire part of the 16 pin C2 connector?

Thanks.
CAN is on the C2 connector, its a pair of cables that are twisted together through their whole length. (edit, and one is brown and one is brown/red if you have OEM wiring in there)

As Benzmodz says, C1 is for CD changer power (and video when you have TV)

As soon as I reconnected the ISO A connector, I can hear a noise like either a fan is going or the CD drive is spinning. This noise continues even after I turned the power off. Is this normal? It usually shut off after a minute or two but this time it continues for more than 15 minutes and I finally pull the plug.

Another question, how important is it to delete the error codes? Do I need to have the dealer reset the unit after it has been unplug?\

BTW, the COMAND is still not showing on the cluster and disk read error continues. I am not sure it is the wires or the COMAND.

Thanks.

I figure out the communication problem between the COMAND and cluster: the C2 connector rotating latch is not pulling the connector tight. I like to know what are some of the options to fix it.

I have identified the noise is from the fan: it starts running as soon as I plug in the power and does not seem to want to turn off, even after I turn the power off. I have to pull the ISO 2 connector to stop it. Any recommendation on how to fix it? cd is stiil not reading.

Thanks

For about 1 Euro you can purchase the outside of the connector with the latch.

Maybe also check the pins are not damaged.

Any chance of a photo ?

1 Euro is not bad. How do you replace the outside of the connector? Do you have to take the COMAND apart?

Thanks.

After looking at your photos. I suggest you position the grey swivelling clasp in the horizontal position. Then insert the connector and swing the grey clasp 90 degrees to the vertical position the same it is in the photos.

Then the special tabs will grab and push the connector in.

Before the clasp will move you need to release the black plastic catch which stops it from moving. Then the connector clasp will swing frreely.

Eureka!!! Benzmodz, thank you for all your help. I make sure the latch catches the whole thing this time and now everything work: cluster, fan, and best of all the nav. Everything is good and thank you to you and Richard. One more question: can we play audio disk in the COMAND cd drive or is it a no no?

Thanks

Glad it works,

Yes, you can play Audio CD in the drive. But of course you can't navigate withuot the map disk in. I'd leave the map disk in all the time if you can, if you keep changing disks the eject roller gets slippery (from grease and dirt of the disk surfaces) and it then has trouble ejecting disks.

Don't forget COMAND can have an AUX input so you can plug a MP3 player in or such like via a 3.5mm jack plug. Look in your glovebox see if your car has it !

Yes I found the aux input and it works with the iPhone. My nav is showing the car arrow moving but on the wrong map. Also in the Infos screen I cannot see any GPS, only 3 lines. Is it because I am having an antenna problem?
