Default GPS Antenna

I have installed the Navi Processor on my pre-wired E320 CDI W211. The Navi Processor I got it from eBay and had to do a lot of updates to recognize the new maps (it would say insert DVD). The unit came also with an aftermarket GPS Antenna. This works fine if I put it somewhere visible (outside 5-6 satellites), but not underneath the metal (i get barely 2 satellites).

The pre-wire had the power for the processor, the optical cale I had to get it to tap into AWG, and the GPS coax cable is there but the other end is not attached to anything as it ends about 1 ft. I am not sure if I have to run a wire to the roof to the bump antenna or I need some sort of Y splitter as there is a black connector that comes from the roof (on the right side and left side of the vehicle).

Any thoughts or maybe someone has diagrams of what I need to do to have factory fit so I can use the bump areal antenna for GPS?

I want to know how to complete the fitting with factory parts.

The short GPS factory cable has a junction point just on the metal divider behind the main module assemblies. Maybe a little higher. You will see it is a black square with thick coxial wires coming from both sides. One spot will be vacant for the GPS or if you have TELEAID a nearby splitter will have a spare position.

GPS Aerial can not see through metal. (i.e GPS signal is blocked by metal)

If using a retrofit antenna (either as a retrofit or because the main antenna broke), poke it through one of the holes in the metal plate below the parcel shelf, so it is sat on the metal looking up through the cardboard shelf and the rear window. (Obviously only possible on the saloon model)

The GPS antenna cable normally comes down on the left side, into the "block" that Benzmodz mentions. If the car had Audio-50 then you need to unplug the wire that goes to the head unit (nav processor in head unit on Audio-50) and plug into that wire that goes to the navigation processor.

On the European cars I have seen, the only thing clipped into the left hand side block is the GPS antenna cable - I imagine on cars with Teleaid there are more cables there, and as Benzmodz says a GPS antenna splitter is used to split the GPS antenna between COMAND and Teleaid)

On early UK W211 with the fibre factory installed you re-jumper the fibre in the rear left side wiring duct (i.e under rear door sill) where there is a joiner in the fibre going to the AGW and the 2 ends of the fibre from the nav processor.
