Red face comand problems from a newbie

Hi all,
I have a 2006 w203 with comand, I have purcased the 2008/9 nav disc, the only problem I am having is that it shows the car location to be about 2 miles from its actual location. The sat indicator shows my digital location but I dont think it shows any sats, ie "0". any help would be great thanks.

Was it doing this before the 2008/2009 disk was installed ?

What exact version of the disk do you have ? (verison number)

This behaviour normally happens if there is a GPS antenna failure, but if it happened at the same time as you switched over to the new disk, it could be that the new disk did not load properly, and you need to install the old disk, wait for that to load and switch back to the new disk

Cheers

Richard

Hi Richard
The disc is an original Ver 10, A169 827 58 59 B6 7823944, (via Germany ebay)
I have no idea if the nav was working before as when the car come it had no disc.
The background of the car is a stolen recovered, undamaged. Is there a way of testing the antenna without removing all the components? I think I can get my old blutooth gps working, connection to the comand may be another thing.

On a second point, do you know of a gearbox man on the forum? the C/S toggle switch is nil operatum.

many thanks for your help
Paul

Hi

0 normally suggests that the antenna is visible ( "-" means it is not ) - its hard to test apart from by plugging another antenna in.

I'd pull the fuse out for COMAND and put it back in a few minutes later.

C/S switch doesnt need a gearbox man, its completely electrical. If the switch does not light up with the car lights, then its likely the connector is not plugged in underneath it. If it does, the switch is possibly broken (simple replacement)

Where are you ? (send me a private message if you don't want to post)

Cheers

Richard

Hi Richard,

I am in Kenley Surrey, Nr Purley. I shall try the fuse removal as you say and see what happens.
