You need
a) steering column cowl with hole for VCS switch
b) trim piece to cover the back of the whole
c) VCS lever
d) VCS switch (which includes cruse control switch)

There are a number of different versions of all of those parts (even the lever) dependant on the chassis number of the car and the options fitted to it and the colour of the plastic bits in your car, and fitting it (first time) is difficult and can result in damage to the very expensive contact spiral.

Yes, after it is fitted it just works.
