Thanks BenzModz, I agree the fault light shouldn't be removable until any outstanding issues have been resolved.

Presently trawling the Yellow Pages to find an independant with the right technology, the chap nearby my home doesn't have the software to rectify the SNC coding.

Just to add to all of my woes, yesterday evening I did virtually the same thing on the ice in my 2008 CLK. Whilst returning from a hospital visit, the truck in front of me stopped awkwardly on the ice leaving me to glide into his swan neck tow bar whilst listening to the accompanying sound of the abs searching in vain to find some grip. Goodbye bumper, grille, and radiator pack (surprisingly no airbags)? Welcome to 2010!

Why, when we have a bit of snow here in England does the whole infastructure grind to a halt? I used to live in Nuremberg, Germany where they have SNOW! The roads there were ploughed and gritted at the first snowfall!
