The removal itself is not that difficult.
If you peel back the carpet you will notice that there are two kinds of screws holding the wood in. One type attaches the wood to the frame and the other type (I seem to recall 6) holds the frame to the car.
What you want to do is identify the larger, less numerous screws and remove them. They are symmetical on both sides and there are a couple under the shifter cover.
I seem to recall that I would first remove the armest by unclipping the side panels and then using a long T20, inside the armrest there are 2 holes for the screws to be loosened from the frame which holds the wood. There are also some floor bolts which hold the armrest to the car.
This is not a difficult removal but it has its challenges. You are best off to ask a few questions at the local garage to the head technician.
