Yes, but the wiring in the mirror is different - its controlled from the DCM
Memory mirrors differ from normal mirrors in that they have a feedback device so the DCM knows where the mirror is - or it can't remember or put the mirror back there.
Dimming has extra wires from DCM to the mirror glass, the connector on the mirror glass is completely different.
You can of course install that on both sides if you want.

Yes (all that I have seen!)
The 'dip' when reverse function needs memory mirror / DCM because it needs to know where to move the mirror to and where to put it back.
The issue with dipping function in cars without memory is that the seat memory button is used to set up the 'dipped' position on many (maybe not all) Mercedes - (look in the car's manual, you will see what I mean)
